Animal Husbandry

Department of Animal Husbandry was established in the year 1944, before that Civil Veterinary and Agriculture Department were responsible for performing and providing the duties & services of Animal Husbandry. At that time Animal Husbandry department was mainly concentrated around animal disease control and horse mating. Later on when Department of Animal Husbandry was fully established, for all round development new programs like animal husbandry development, breeding and fodder seed development were started along with existing programs like animal veterinary and disease control. In future Department of Animal Husbandry will play an important and crucial role in village development that will not only help our farmers socially but financially also.

Department of Animal Husbandry in district Hapur right now has 17 veterinary Hospitals, 4 “D” class hospital and 28 dispensaries through which it provides it provides its services for animal treatment and disease control. In every block of the district there are veterinary hospitals and dispensaries.

Objectives of the department:-

  1. To provide health coverage to animals, containment of diseases by providing prophylactic vaccination, disease diagnostic and treatment services.
  2. To provide breeding facilities with advanced technologies and improved genetic stock.
  3. To evolve an effective and scientific breeding policy to develop animals for specific needs that is high milk yield, meat, egg, wool and draught power etc
  4. To improve the feed and fodder resources through extension of area of fodder cultivation with improved fodder varieties, biomass production, silvipasture development and enrichment of cellulosic waste.
  5. In order to maintain the genetic diversity, conservation of indigenous breeds of cows and buffaloes.
  6. To develop all livestock species and poultry with marketing back up and support services.
